President's Invitation to a Tea Party ☕️
Hi everyone!!
My name is Claire Wang, and I’m so excited to be the 2026–2027 President of Texas Bluebonnets! I’m a Spring ’24 baby, and I cannot wait to welcome you into our organization. 💙
In my time with Texas Bluebonnets, I’ve found some of my favorite people, made some of my fondest memories, and—somehow—taken more pictures than I thought was humanly possible. From run clubs to wine nights to all-you-can-eat dinners with the fam, I truly can’t thank Bluebonnets enough for the way it has shaped my college experience.
When I was a freshman, the thought of recruiting was terrifying. After getting rejected the first time I recruited, I was definitely nervous about putting myself out there again. But I kept thinking about the openness, warmth, and genuine excitement I had felt with all the Bluebonnets I had met. So I gave it another shot—fast forward a couple of years, and somehow, I’m the one getting to welcome you all in!
One of my favorite things about Bluebonnets is that there is truly something for everyone. You’ll have the chance to explore Austin, pick up new hobbies, try things you’ve never done before, and meet people who quickly become part of your everyday life. You’ll also inevitably find yourself wearing Bluebonnets merch approximately seven days a week. It happens to the best of us.
We have all kinds of social events throughout the semester, from the BIG ones like Barge, formals, and bar tabs, to sisterhood events like strawberry picking, apartment crawls, and ice skating. Basically, there is always an excuse to get dressed up, get out of the house, or show up somewhere with your favorite people.
If sports are more your speed, we have intramural teams like volleyball and flag football, plus tailgates and watch parties throughout the year. Whether you’re an athlete or someone who considers ‘athletic’ to mean carrying three bags of snacks to a tailgate, there’s a place for you.
Our D+I committee also puts together some of my favorite events, including cooking classes, cultural arts and crafts, and opportunities to learn more about diverse backgrounds and experiences.
And, of course, giving back is a huge part of who we are. Our philanthropic partner is Sunday Lunchbox, a nonprofit focused on food insecurity in the Austin area. Each semester, we host a fundraiser in support of Sunday Lunchbox and volunteer weekly. We also love supporting other organizations around Austin, including the Austin Animal Shelter, AGE of Texas, and Reading Aces!
At the end of the day, Bluebonnets is so much more than a list of events. It’s the people you call when you need a study break, the friends you drag to dinner, the random Tuesday plans that somehow become your favorite
memories, and the people you know will be cheering you on along the way.
I can’t wait to meet every single one of you this semester. Get ready for a TEA PARTY!!! 🫖💙
